BTMM students garner honors for radio projects
Pavlo Fenik, BTMM, won Best College Radio Commercial at this year’s March of Dimes Philadelphia Air Awards/Dr. Craig Monroe Achievement in Radio for his commercial “Pretzel Boys.” He was also a finalist for his other commercial, “Dinardo Roofing.”
Also recognized as a finalist in the ”Best College Radio Documentary” category at the Air Awards was Carolyn Pagnotta, BTMM, for her piece “Ju-Jit-Zu.”
The winners were announced Nov. 5 at the March of Dimes annual awards event at Rowan University.
All three productions were created as part of Professor James McKinney’s Intro to Radio course. -
Donald Heller joins SCT administrative team
Temple University’s School of Communications and Theater welcomes Donald Heller as its assistant dean of administration.
Heller comes to SCT from Temple’s College of Engineering, where he was assistant dean of finance and operations, but he is a familiar face in Annenberg Hall. Heller is an adjunct faculty member and has been director of the Communications Major and interim chair of the Theater Department. He has worked at Temple since 2000.

NYC becomes classroom for StOC student
Dan Suraci’s research has taken him down some interesting paths – about 600 miles worth.
Suraci, a junior honors student with a double-major in StOC and geography and urban studies at Temple University, is examining the bicycle culture of New York City with the assistance of a Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Scholarship and the Undergraduate Research Incentive Fund. His work is far more involved than a bike ride, though. From his perspective atop two wheels, the 20-year-old from Royersford, Pa., studies why New York is seeing success in improving ridership and theorizes on ways other cities can promote biking …
