Temple Repertory Theater, a company of artists closely associated with the Department of Theater at Temple University, is now is its second annual summer season, entertaining Philadelphia theatergoers throughout the month of July with exciting, character-driven theater that focuses squarely on the actor and the text. By choosing two rarely-seen, dramatic masterworks in rotating rep—Sam Shepard’s Buried Child and Moliere’s Tartuffe—we are committing ourselves to new, daring stagings of classic works of drama. For modern audiences.
In a departure from last season’s in-the-round configuration on Tomlinson Stage, this summer the TRT productions will be performed in our intimate blackbox, Randall Theater.
TRT will once again be brought to life by a group of accomplished professional actors with Broadway, New York, national, and regional credits currently working towards their Master of Fine Arts degrees at Temple University, combined with Temple-affiliated directors, designers and theater artists collaborating as a repertory company. Led by Barrymore Award-winning director Dan Kern (Lantern’s Skylight), the Temple Repertory Theater troupe promises to infuse the summer arts scene in Philadelphia with a jolt of exciting, uncompromising theater.
We would like to thank Temple University, the Department of Theater, and the School of Communications and Theater for their generous support of Temple Repertory Theater.
We hope you will consider joining us on this exciting, midsummer theatrical endeavor.
