For Students Considering DEC Prior to Class Registration Period
If you’re interested in taking DEC (Diamond Edge Communications, Advertising 3171) for the spring semester, please take the following into consideration:
DEC is meant for those who are serious about entering the ad, marketing, or promotion field. If you’re not that intent on working in the field, then DEC isn’t for you. You should review the DEC website (www.temple.edu/dec) to become familiar with DEC and the clients it serves.
You should take DEC after you’ve completed at least your first track course and preferably your second as well.
Ideally, you should take DEC in the first or second semester of your senior year. The second semester of your junior year is a possibility.
To register for DEC you need a special projects form and registration card, which must be signed by Prof. Marra, 326 Annenberg. The form and card can be obtained from Gayle in the ad office.
The Note below is based on the assumption DEC is full for the Spring 2012 semester. If you are unsure, check the self service banner.
Note: If you’re considering DEC for next Fall 2012, you must register before this Spring 2012 semesters end. Keep in mind that the course will be capped around 25 select students, there are no guarantees upon application.
