Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) offers members a variety of tools that can help students gain valuable information and experience. Weekly meetings feature guest speakers from various PR fields, guided tours of agencies, and networking opportunities for members. PRSSA also offers hands-on experience through fundraising and the  student run PR Firm, PRowl Public Relations. PRSSA is a great way to get involved on campus and in the Philadelphia community.

PRowl Public Relations

PRowl Public Relations is Temple University’s first and only student-run PR firm. PRowl Public Relations staff members are hired based on their enthusiasm, drive and dedication to continually expanding their knowledge and skill sets.  Our members are outstanding public relations students at Temple University with varying levels of experience, ranging from freshmen to graduating seniors. At PRowl Public Relations, students are given opportunities to develop their strategic thinking and gain tactical practice. Members create and execute public relations campaigns, form valuable relationships with professionals in the Philadelphia area, apply their classroom knowledge to a real-world setting, become part of an interactive communications process and prepare for life beyond graduation.

Our mission is threefold:

1. To provide clients with comprehensive PR services and solutions.

2. To offer Temple Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) members the opportunity to apply their knowledge and gain experience beyond the classroom.

3. To build credibility while forming lasting student-client relationships.

Temple University Black Public Relations Society is a professional student organization, associated with the Philadelphia chapter of Black Public Relations Society. We are geared towards those interested in entering the communications field. We hope to connect students to professionals in various communications, especially in the public relations industry. Founded in spring 2009, we are one of two student chapters of Black Public Relations Society on the east coast.

Mission Statement: Our mission is to cultivate, encourage, and create a supportive community for aspiring public relations majors at Temple University. We aim to achieve this goal by having guest speakers, volunteering as a group, holding skill-building workshops, providing and seeking networking opportunities, as well as building the bond between members of the organization to create lasting relationships.

Lambda Pi Eta, National Communication Honor Society

  • Temple University Chapter [*pending approval]
  • National Organization [follow links for Student Organizations]

Lambda Pi Eta is the official communication studies honor
society of the National Communication Association (NCA). As a
member of the Association of College Honor Societies(ACHS),
LPH has over 400 active chapters at four-year colleges and
universities worldwide.

LPH was founded in 1985 at the University of Arkansas. LPH
became a part of the National Communication Association (NCA)
in 1988, and the official honor society of the NCA in July 1995.

LPH represents what Aristotle described in his book, Rhetoric,
as the three ingredients of persuasion: Logos (Lambda) meaning
logic, Pathos (Pi) relating to emotion, and Ethos (Eta)
defined as character credibility and ethics.

Goals of Lambda Pi Eta are to:

  1. Recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic
    achievement in communication studies
  2. Stimulate interest in the field of communication
  3. Promote and encourage professional development among
    communication majors
  4. Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in
    the field of communication
  5. Establish and maintain closer relationships between
    faculty and students
  6. Explore options for graduate education in communication
    studies
